Terms & Conditions

1. Fees and Charges

Gilmour Plumbing & Gas charges a $59 + GST service fee for clients within Bunbury and surrounding areas. Additional travel costs will apply for locations outside this area. We will perform the work specified by the client and outlined in the quotation. Any changes to the scope of work may result in additional costs. If there is any error or omission in the quote, Gilmour Plumbing & Gas reserves the right to adjust the quoted price, even if the quote has been accepted by the customer. Final costs are subject to assessment.

2. “Do and Charge” Jobs

“Do and Charge” jobs are billed per item, covering:

• Procurement, administration, and collection of materials
• Disconnection and removal of original components
• Installation, testing, and verification of new components
• Compliance Certification

Gilmour Plumbing & Gas reserves the right to adjust prices to match the scope of work.

3. Fault Finding

Fault finding, including but not limited to gas and water leaks, blockages, and location of services, incurs a minimum charge, covering 60 minutes of diagnostic work. If fault finding exceeds 60 minutes, additional charges apply in 15-minute increments:

• LOCAL: $130 + GST minimum charge
• OUTSIDE LOCAL AREA: $130 + GST minimum charge + travel costs

Rates for fault finding beyond 60 minutes:

• 15 minutes 1x Technician = $32.50 + GST
• 15 minutes 1x Technician and Apprentice = $53.00 + GST

Repairs will be quoted separately upon locating the fault.

4. Terms of Payment

Payment is due upon satisfactory completion of the work or at each stage if applicable. A 30% deposit may be required to start the work, and acceptance of this deposit confirms the contract. This deposit is non-refundable.

5. Access

The client must ensure that Gilmour Plumbing & Gas technicians have access to the site during working hours and remove any personal property that could obstruct the work.

6. Materials, Details, and Dimensions

The client must provide necessary dimensions and locations in a timely manner to facilitate the completion of the work as per the contract.

7. Existing Underground Services

Gilmour Plumbing & Gas is not responsible for the repair or rectification of damaged underground services during manual or machine excavation. It is the client’s responsibility to identify and mark the location of any underground services before excavation begins.

8. Use of Equipment Excavators:

Excavators will be used for digging and trenching as required. The client is responsible for marking any underground services before excavation begins. Gilmour Plumbing & Gas is not liable for damage to unmarked services.

Minimum Charges for 1.8 tonne Excavator

Drain Jetters: High-pressure drain jetters will be used to clear blockages. The client must notify Gilmour Plumbing & Gas of any known vulnerabilities in the drainage system. Gilmour Plumbing & Gas is not responsible for pre-existing damage that may be exacerbated by jetting.

A fee of $150+GST will be charged if we require the use of the Drain Jetter.

Locating Cameras: Locating cameras will be used to inspect and identify issues within pipes and drains. Gilmour Plumbing & Gas will provide a report based on the findings. The client is responsible for acting on recommendations.

A fee of $150+ GST will be charged if we require the use of the Camera and Locator.

9. Excavation (Manual or Machine)

Excavation costs are estimated based on known conditions at the time of quotation. Due to the unpredictable nature of underground conditions, Gilmour Plumbing & Gas reserves the right to adjust the original quotation to reflect additional time and costs required to complete the excavation if conditions change.

10. Safety and Compliance

All work will be conducted in compliance with Australian safety standards and regulations. The client agrees to follow any safety instructions provided by Gilmour Plumbing & Gas.

11. Finished Surfaces

Unless otherwise agreed, the client is responsible for making good all finished surfaces affected during the work.

12. Variations

Any client-requested variations may increase the contract sum and extend the completion time. The client will be liable for any cost increases. A written variation quotation will be provided and must be accepted within 3 days. Failure to accept within this period may result in a revised quotation. Variation quotations are exclusive of GST and apply only to the described variation work.

13. Retention of Title

Gilmour Plumbing & Gas retains title to goods until full payment is received.

14. Warranties

• All materials and workmanship will comply with current Australian standards.
• We will rectify defects in materials or workmanship within six months of handover.
• Third-party warranties will match the obligations imposed by those third parties.
• No warranty is provided for client-supplied materials.

15. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for consequential, special, or contingent damages arising from our performance. Liability is limited to 10% of the contract sum.

16. Cancellation by the Client

If the client cancels the contract, they must pay for work completed and compensate Gilmour Plumbing & Gas for losses incurred due to cancellation.

17. Implied Terms

No additional warranties or conditions are included unless legally required, such as those under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

18. Termination of Contract

Gilmour Plumbing & Gas reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time without notice for reasons including, but not limited to, unsafe working conditions or non-compliance by the client. In such cases, the client will be billed for work completed up to the termination date.
